Description:
Meet Beau! This little guy has one of the cutest, spunkiest personalities that I've seen in a long time...and his eyes could melt your heart! He has come a LONG way from when he first arrived on my doorstep! (Beau was a mill breeder) He follows me and the other dogs everywhere and loves to be in the same room as all of us. After 8 years of confinement in a puppy mill crate, he has finally learned that dog beds are really soft and comfortable, that rawhides are fun to chew on, and that food and treats are DELICIOUS! Beau has not learned how to walk on a leash yet, but boy has he learned that racing around the back yard is FUN! When I come home from work or when it's time to eat, he will race around in circles, wagging his tail, and pouncing like he wants to play with me! At this point in time, a fenced yard is REQUIRED for Beau. He is also overwhelmed with a lot of activity -whether people, kids or other animals. He would do best in a quieter household with routine and another well adjusted dog to show him the ropes. He is still learning to live the life of a normal dog after his many years in a puppy mill. Beau is one smart cookie! He learned quickly that going outside to do his business will earn him a treat... so now he goes outside, stands for a minute, turns around to come back in and then races to the kitchen towards the treat bucket! Treats have been a real motivator for him. He no longer hesitates to take treats from my hand and gets SO EXCITED when he realizes it's "treat time"! Beau has also learned that human hands can be gentle and kind. He now lets me pet him and will often roll right over to let me rub or scratch his tummy. Beau will need a longer adjustment period when he moves to a new home, but he is so worth the time and patience it will take to make him feel comfortable! He has come so far and I just know he will bring joy and a smile to his new family's faces! Please feel free to fill out an Adoption Application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
