Description:

Meet Jet, he sure is gorgeous!! Jet is coming back to rescue and will be looking for his forever home. Hey did I mention he is super handsome?

Jet can easily jump over a 4' fence so a 6' fence will be required to adopt  Jet. He needs a home without cats.

Jet comes from working dog lines, so he does require a strong pack leader in his home but with his high will to please, he could excel at any type of training with the right owner and be a great pet!! Wont you open your heart to this good boy?

He does well with strangers when properly introduced.

Here is an update on his progress with meeting new people from his foster mom:
Well, in addition to meeting the entire staff, he's met a few clients at my work (clients that also have GSDs). He is a little standoffish... but fine after a minute or so.  The client he metb today he had absolutely no problems with.
I got to witness his "guarding" when my mom and her boyfriend came over,  and every time my boyfriend,  Matt, comes over.
He is loud, and aggressive sounding,  but it seems to be mostly fear. Hackles up, loud barking,  (haven't paid close enough attention to his ears) and backing away.  He does not charge.  I have him sit. I stand next to the stranger,  hand them treats,  and they give them to him. It takes a few minutes,  but he settles Down and is fine.  Once I kennel him (if I'm getting ready to leave)... he barks if he hears a man's voice. .. even if he's already met him.
I introduced him to a sit at my left side when Matt came over today.  Ideally,  I'd like him to retreat to my side when he's nervous.  But that'll take a little bit.
He's such a great dog!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
