Description:
Meet Jayden! Jay is housetrained and crate trained.
He obeys basic commands: sit, down, wait, and leave it. He is working on becoming more proficient at 'stay.'
He recognizes his name, Jayden or Jay, & comes in from outside when called.
Mealtime is a highlight of his day!... and, of course, people coming home!
Jay enjoys going for walks and is a good walker. He is working on his excitement level when seeing other dogs... or bunnies... or squirrels... or birds... and is doing exceptionally well! He's a good car rider, although he prefers not to be in it for long.
He can be left alone in the designated area with other dogs for short periods of time when the family is away. For longer periods, he is content to be in his kennel with a toy or two. He prefers to sleep in this designated 'dog area' at night.
Jay definitely needs a fenced in yard with plenty of room to hunt & run - it's his favorite activity!
Jayden is truly an enjoyable guy. He will certainly be a wonderful companion for any family!
Update from foster 12/28: Jayden is a true joy to have in the house. Even though he is a young dog, he seems to have an "old soul" - maybe it's the gray whiskers hanging around his face? He has been nothing but a gentleman in our home - a sweet disposition, good manners, and eager to please. He is completely house and crate trained, and is spending days and nights outside of the crate with no issues whatsoever. He is a very quiet guy, only barks when playing with other dogs, or when he sees a squirrel or bunny - but in the house, you mostly know he's around because of the jingle of his tags. He has wiry hair on his body that is not showing to shed much at all, and he recently accepted a toe-nail clipping without complaints! Jayden went for a three-hour car ride over the Holidays and handled the ride just fine - he needed a little time to settle down for the ride out, but then was quicker at settling down on the way home (check out the picture of him sniffing out the window). During this trip he visited three new homes, met about 25 new people, 5 new dogs, and a cat... all with a friendly demeanor and wagging tail. He played well with dogs both bigger and smaller than himself, and worked his way into the hearts of the humans using his big brown eyes and sweet little kisses. All who met him were surprised that he had not been snatched up by a family already! Jayden really would do well in any situation - a family with young children, teen children, or a retired person looking for a companion. He would do great as a second dog, but would be OK as an only dog if he had some regular doggy-play dates or trips to the dog parks (he really loves both humans and dogs). He loves to play fetch and tug with his humans, to wrestle and chase with his four-legged friends, and to snuggle with either humans or fur-friends. He is mastering the "stay" command (check out his video below), and likes to spin around in a circle three times before he lays down to rest. We were blessed to share this Christmas with him, and our New Year's wish is that he would find his forever home soon! Jayden requires an active home, preferably one with another pet, or children who can give him a good workout and a privacy fence. He can climb over and hurdle a 4' chain link fence.
