Description:

Meet Jet, he sure is gorgeous!! Jet has been living in a fenced back yard for his first 3 yrs of life, and he so wants to be part of someone's family! He is super smart and wants to please, so learning all his new house manners will go quickly with him. And did I mention he is super handsome?

Jet can easily jump over a 4' fence so a 6' fence will be required to adopt  Jet. Jet met a cat once, but when the cat hissed at him, he wanted to attack the cat, so he needs a home without cats.  He sure does love playing with other dogs though! Jet comes from working dog lines, so he does require a strong pack leader in his home but with his high will to please, he could excel at any type of training with the right owner and be a great pet!! Wont you open your heart to this good boy?

Update from Jet's foster mom:
He is a beautiful  3 year old sable German Shepherd.  He is super smart and learned how to open the gate between the kitchen and dining room.  He is crate trained and almost completely house trained.  He knows sit and he is learning  come, down, stay, off, wait and back.  He has learned to walk well on a leash.   Buddy loves to play with his foster brother and sisters who are also German  Shepherds. He also plays well with his two Sheltie friends.  He especially likes to chew on Nyla bones and tennis balls.    He is a very loving and gentle boy.  Buddy takes treats from your hand very carefully.  He is taking a dog training class on Thursdays and he is doing very well.  He loves being in the house and spends his nights at the foot of my bed.   Buddy loves to go on walks or jogging.     Buddy would make a wonderful addition to you family.

Update:
Jet has gotten very protective of his current home, and will need a strong pack leader to keep this tendency under control. He is a very strong, and confident boy who comes from working lines, so he's just trying to find himself a job to do.

Jet moved to a foster home and now has a foster Dad who he does well for, here is his first update:
Buddy/Jet is doing well. I got him his Bord. shot and he has spent several afternoons at doggy daycare. Does well with all the dogs and the people there. He does well with strangers when properly introduced. Once inside the house he is great.  He has gained about 15 pounds which is great because he was so thin. About 5 more pounds and he'll be set.  He started to show signs of being toy/bone possessive, simple verbal shaming corrected it. We taught him to drop his toy or bone when we say "give" then he lets anyone take it. He is still protective initially but has learned to accept strangers.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
