Description:
Meet Nyla!
Nyla aka Rosie had a rough time the first years of her life as she was used only for breeding. She sometimes leans a bit to one side, most likely from turning in circles in her cage. However, she is now doing very well in her foster home. Rosie’s foster had her groomed last week because her very thick fur looked messy.. Now Rosie's fur is shiny, soft and beautiful. She is a beautiful dog! She is a happy dog, anxious to please, and will make a terrific companion once her trust is gained. She is still nervous around people she doesn't know, but trusts her caretaker. Breeder release dogs are usually afraid to come in through doors. After 3 weeks of gaining her trust and working on it, she now not only goes out the door to the yard, but comes back in. Rosie lets her foster pick her up, carry her and cuddle her a little while standing, but is still afraid to cuddle on my lap. Rosie walks right next to her handler on a leash, a natural healer, but prefers the right side of her person rather than the left. She is feisty in a good way, her spirit was not broken. She barks when she wants to come in the house, and is beginning to bark when she wants to go outside. She also barks when she knows it's about time to eat, just to make sure the fosters haven't forgotten. Rosie gets along well with other dogs, especially with the foster’s Shih tzu, who is the same size as her. She also goes to sit by the pack leader in the house when she is worried. She is concerned about thunder storms and people she doesn't know. Rosie has begun to wake me at night when she needs to go outside so she seems to be completely house broken, unless left alone too long. Rosie doesn't know she can jump up, so she stays on the floor except when I put her on furniture. She is able to jump down when she is ready to get down, and has no trouble doing steps. She talks a bit in her sleep, a cute low grumbling sound. Rosie needs a home with at least one other dog to continue teaching her how to be a pet, and a person who is patient and gentle with her. She will most likely be a one person dog, at least for a while. No young children, she wouldn't bite, but they would frighten her. She has a happy, bright personality and will make a wonderful companion. I haven't needed to kennel her, she does fine in the house when I am not home. She is happy to be out of a kennel, and doesn't want to go back to her old kenneled life. The effort to gain her trust will be worth the love you will receive in return. A home with another dog is required for Nyla

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
