Description:
Meet Elijah - Eli is a peanut of a Min-Pin at about 7-1/2 pounds - the perfect size for snuggling, cuddling and lap warming - all of his favorite things!  He is 1 year old and has a docked tail and natural ears. He is currently spending his days with 2 Boxers, 3 cats and a host of friends at doggy daycare!  Not your typical puppy, Eli prefers lounging and cuddling to playing and romping.  He doesn't seem to know how to play and whenever he tries to engage play with the Boxers in his current home, he gets scared!  But he doesn't seem to mind - he can take or leave dogs and seems to have more fun trying to engage the cats in play.

Eli is about potty trained.  He is crate trained and doesn't seem to mind being in it when family is gone.  He isn't thrilled about sleeping in it - he will sleep in it but when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he wakes everyone else up as well!   He has been sleeping out of his crate now for some time and does great.

Eli has been exposed to dogs of all sizes as his foster mom works part time at a daycare for dogs so he gets to go in with her - even here he doesn't show a lot of interest in the others though...unless they get too close while he is napping - he ocasionally needs to be reminded that laps do not belong to him alone and that he gets more attention when he shares.  He has also been around kids of all ages - down to a one-year old' he has mixed emotions about the little ones - they often have good treats that are readily available to him, but they are also a little unbalanced and make him nervous.  He has never shown any anxiety or aggression to any but knows when it is time to retreat to his safe spot!

He walks great on his leash and enjoys a casual stroll around the neighborhood; he does love to run with the Boxers in the backyard and does his best to jeep up.  He had knee surgery some time ago but seems to be recovering nicely.

All in all - Eli will make a wonderful companion and they will be very lucky to have such a sweet snuggler.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
