Update from Frankie's foster mom:

Now that Frankie has had some quiet time to get over being traumatized &
scared, he has become a very happy little dog & is doing very well.  First
off, he is the Sweetest little guy you will ever be priviledged enough to
ever know.  He is a Super mellow fellow & loves to cuddle.  His hair is
growing back now & he looks so cute!!

He is a really good eater --not fussy at all and drinks plenty of water.
He and my little dog are great together.  Frankie curls up with my
14-year-old cat --he mostly ignores her or snuggles with her --sooooo
cute!!

Potty training is going slow, but I'm not the best at it --it just takes me
a long time.  He does go out side and will go on or off leash.  He also
walks really well on a leash : )

I do not kennel him, mostly because I am home all day, but even when I
leave he does just fine.  I don't kennel him at night either --he prefers
to sleep on a blanket on the floor next to the bed. : ) He has slept in the
bed before and he Loves to play on the bed. : ) He thinks he's winning
because he can tackle you when your laying down and will stand with his
front paws on up on you like you are his catch... very cute!!

He still gets scared and trembles in the car --I think because it has been
a scary destination before.  But he Loves Loves Loves the dog park --it's
fenced & has an area specifically for small dogs --he thinks it's heaven!
Frankie plays Great with other dogs, although he is a little afraid of big
dogs.  He is super friendly with all the people.  I have Never Never seen
any aggression to people --in fact, he seems to instantly calm down when
held.  Also one thing to do every single time is to not let him wiggle out
of your arms to jump down.  Hold him tight and gently set him down --this
helps tremendously with his sense of security.

Frankie would love a fenced yard if possible & a home with children
seven-ish and older.  He seems to really like women but Loves little girls
--I think it's their soft voice and gentle touch.  He really needs to be
the center of someone's world --I don't think he'd be his best as second
fiddle.  The key with Frankie is that someone really needs to bond with him
--carry him around & make him the center of their world right off the
bat...  He really needs to feel secure and know he has a forever home.
Frankie is trying to find his own human --and boy-oh-boy --someone is going
to get a fantastic little dog!!!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
