Description:
Meet Walter! We dare you to look at the face and try not to fall in love! He is a sweet boy. It appears he still has a lot of puppy traits in him such as chewing, and enjoying squeaky toys. He has been good with the small dog in the home but would really enjoy having someone his own size and speed to play with. He does and is allowed on my couch, which has become his favorite place to nap. If allowed he would be in my lap and I am sure he would love to be a lap dog. He has done well with housetraining. He is let out frequently but he will also scratch on the door if he wants to go out. He also walks well on leash and isn't much of a puler. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and has only barked a few times here and there. He is a delight to be around and will be a great addition to a loving family.
*Walter did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life. *A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
