Description:

Howdy folks!
The name is Beauford, and I don't mean to sound conceited but, I am the most beautiful purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound. I ended up at a rural shelter down south because my owner could no longer keep me...the MARS people said they step up and get me to the wonderful state of Minnesota. I did live indoors, and I am completely housetrained, and I was once a hunting dog that wound up in the pound in Missouri after I just kept going and my owners did not search the world for me. Too bad for them, good for you!

I am a VERY laid back guy who likes to just "chill."  People always comment about how calm I am and I am friendly with humans of all ages and sizes.  Infact, the only living beings I do not get along with are those fuzzy things you human call "cats" and very dominant dogs.  See, I don't act like one of those tough, dominant males- however, I am inside.  So when I get around another guy like that, I feel the need to prove myself.  So, for the best interests of everyone, I prefer to live with the ladies only! Or other smaller mlae dogs :)

I am very quiet- in my foster home, nor do I jump up on anyone.  Overall I am an awesome dog!

Do I sound like a dog you want to meet?  Fill out an application for me so you can meet me!!

Beauford is a wonderful boy who ended up in the pound because his owner could no longer keep him. We are worked very hard to get Beauford up here to the big city from this rural shelter. He didn't get adopted locally so we completed his transfer to Minnesota. We are continuing to work hard to find him a forever home! Can you see it in your heart to guarentee him a spot to lay his head now that we got him to the big city?

                                      Arrived June 14th, 2009

Beauford
is a 4 year old Treeing Walker Coon Hound. He has been at the pound before after a long hunt and his owner never claimed him at teh puind. He was then adopted by some very nice people but, when bad weather hit, their house was destroyed. They had to move and could not keep Beauford. They gave him to someone they thought would care for, and love him forever. Unfortunetly they decided they did not want him anymore and dropped him back at this rural shelter. So he was back needing a home, and in danger of being put down.

MARS stepped in to save this wonderful boy from certain death. He has been neutered, is up to date on shots, is micro chipped, and does well with all people, including kids. He also likes other dogs as long as they are not males his size or larger. Cats won't work well for him either, since he thinks they run just like a coon! He was a hunting dog at one time. He is also housetrained.

Why not take this opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a sweet boy who needs some help?

Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION APPLICATION on our main website,

  or

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
