Description:
Meet Maisy!
Maisy came in with the name "Franny" but because she is em"bark"ing on a new life, she is getting a new name too!  Maisy came to us from an out-of-state rural shelter with several other dogs at the end of May 2009.  Since then, she has been kid-tested and dog-approved!  She gets along with everyone, including the resident cat in her foster home.  She loves playing so she would be a great addition to a family with a playful pooch, or some young children to run around with her.

Maisy has been attending a local obedience class with her foster mom and knows MANY commands.  She can sit, lay, up, roll over, shake, stand, "off", drop it, and she fetches (she learned all of these commands in two weeks, with several hours of work a day from foster mom!).  In addition, she does not go on the furniture in the house.  Her foster mom is currently working on crate training, however she so far has not enjoyed being kenneled.  She is catching on to potty training but does not completely get the swing of things yet, so this will likely need to be continued in her next home.  Right now she is very rarely left unsupervised, as there is always someone home.  However, for the most part she is good about not chewing on items that do not belong to her (except the occasional flip flop.  But she's a pup!)

Maisy takes treats very nicely and even when playing never bites or nips.  She would be ideal for a stay at home parent with children, however Maisy really would fit well into most family dynamics.  She does have her quirks...such as random barks for no apparent reason!  In the end, though, she is overall a WONDERFUL dog.  Her foster mom said, "Of the twelve dogs I have fostered with MARS, she is the first one I have let come into my bedroom by the cat food.  I told her no once and that was it.  She hasn't tried to get into it again!"

If you are looking for the perfect little puppy to add to your life, fill out an application for Maisy and see how wonderful this spunky little girl is!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
