Description:
Meet Beaner! Poor Bean was stuck in a cage at a rural animal control facility and his time was up. The only reason he is still alive is because the staff there has fallen in love with him and they want to see him get out. We have stepped up to the plate and need to find his new FOREVER home. Bean is a very sweet and loving boy. He loves all dogs, this includes the little tiny grumpy dogs. He just wags his tail and sniffs. He truly is a wonderful boy who needs to find the loving home he deserves. Update From Beaner's Foster: Beaner is one of the sweetest and gentle dogs we have ever fostered! He loves kids and dogs as well! He gets very excited to play with any dog he sees when we are out walking him. So if you have another dog that can handle playing with a big goofy dude, Beaner would love it. He is very protective of everyone in the house as well. If we start goofing around and roughhousing he will start barking and get right in between us and wag his tail and give you a look like "ok its time to relax people" Its quite funny actually! He loves to crawl under the blankets in the middle of the night and make himself at home with us. Being that he is not exactly small that's been fun as well. He stayed in the crate for the first few days at night, as well as when we went out to run errands and such and did fine with that too. He is 100% house trained and has had zero accidents in the house! Now he has been staying in the house and the crate is put away. My 4 year old loves to poke and pull ears and he has zero care about that. My 7 year old has worked a lot with him on sit, stay, wait, leave it, shake, and lay down and he is getting better with that everyday. He obviously listens to me and the wife more because we are not looking him in the eye but he does listen to all our kids very well. So if you have kids to play with he will love that too! Anyone who is lucky enough to adopt Beaner will be getting one of the best looking, coolest acting, big dogs out there! Please help him find you and his forever home! P.S. WE just tested him with a cat last night and he loves them! Maybe with a little more salt and pepper, but ummm yah! No cats in the house would be best right away for Mr. Bean! With the right cat he might not be so hungry, but for now I think we will just recommend they don't eat, I mean meat, oh shoot, MEET at home! Update: Beaner has really become quite the family dog! His latest trick was to jump up on the top bunk of the girls bunk beds by himself! Agility training anyone? And Mom and kids are out of town so Beaner and Dad are batchin' it this weekend. So far Beaner has spent 10 hours alone at home, yah I know he was bored to tears, but did fine! Nothing chewed, nothing marked, nothing stained, and no holes to the outside world! He sits and waits to have his leash put on for walks, and he will sit and wait to come in or out a door now when open until you tell him to as long as you make him sit first! Basically he is very very smart, learns fast, and is learning to be a kind and courteous dog. Now if we could just get him to play nice with cats we would be golden! Or black gold as it were:-) He is awesome! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
