Meet Gilmore!

Meet Gilmore (Gil) ! This pup is not only housetrained but uses a bell on the door handle with his nose to let you know when he’s got to go. He is also crate trained at night and during the day when he needs a rest.  He quiets down quickly when he is put in and doesn't want to be there.

He also has good house manners and plays well with his toys. We have not seen any guarding of toys but is not a fan of watching the resident dog eat or having him around when he is eating.  His foster family is working with him on it and he is getting better. He loves a Kong with peanut butter or a bone. He also loves a good squeaky toy. He does well on walks with very little pulling. He is learning basic commands of sit, here, down, bed, off, leave it and kennel. He is also responsive to ecollar training. He’s highly food motivated and seems to learn quickly.

He showed interest in a former resident cat but he usually just ignored them. (If you look closely you can even see one of the cats peaking at him from around the corner as he poses for a photo:)) He seems to do well with other dogs (and loves playing with them) and with the children in the foster family. He still has his baby teeth so he does softly bite when he gets excited, but redirecting him to a bone or a simple no will stop the behavior. 

Gilmore would benefit from a family who would like to keep him active and learning new things. We don't see any issues with getting things he isn't supposed to have unless he doesn't get enough attention.  10 minutes of playing outside a few times a day or a training lesson helps to stimulate him enough to keep him happy and well mannered.
