Description:
Meet Sarita! Hi, my name is Sarita. I am told I am a very cute Chihuahua, white with brown markings in just the right places to make me interesting. The first day I came to my foster mom's house I left the yard under her gate and caused all sorts of commotion in the little town where I stay, as everyone tried to find me. A big man chased me over the corn fields on a Gator, a scary little jeep that doesn't hurt the crops. He chased me until I was tired, then did a flying tackle from the Gator and caught me. After spending a cold, hungry night outside I learned that "there is no place like home." I am now content to stay in my house and yard. I still frighten easily and worry about hands coming at me, but at the same time I hate being left out of anything. The three dogs I'm staying with, sleep in bed with my foster mom. After one night next to them in a cozy, comfortable crate, I now join everyone on the bed. I love to quietly sit next to my foster mom on her chair when she watches TV or reads. I also follow her around to see what she is doing. Humans do the most fascinating things! I am very quiet, once in a while I softly cry when I want something, but I never bark. The Alpha dog at this house is a Rat Terrier named Penny. She lets me cuddle with her and looks out for me. The other rat Terrier, Mattie teaches me things I don't know, but I'm not too sure about the big bulldog that follows me around. I am almost potty trained. When I am taken outside, I go - I just haven't figured out how to tell my foster mom when I need to go outside I feel safer going outside if she goes with me. I am fine with children, but they need to be patient and gentle with me. I don't know how to play, but I am willing to walk on a leash if I can follow Penny. I will be happy in a quiet house with one other dog, preferably a smaller dog, but I'm willing to try it alone too, because I really want to be loved. I am only two years old and Chihuahuas live a long time. If you adopt me I will be your loving companion for many years. Do you like my new summer outfit? Please feel free to fill out an Adoption application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
