Meet Beans!

Beans was rescued from a home that had over 100 dogs in their possession.   He is still shy and sometimes scared, but he's getting used to being in a home and his personality has begun to show!

Beans is doing very well learning to be a house dog.   He is housebroken.   Once in a while he will mark inside where other dogs have already marked.

Beans will probably do best in an adult only home - or teenagers who can understand his shyness.   He gets along with dogs and has a "best friend" dog in the foster home that he plays with.

He has not been crated at this point.   He does well gated in the kitchen - open space where he can see other dogs and what is going on around him.

He is not a barker.   He isn't a high energy dog - enjoys playing with his best friend and being around the other dogs.

He is learning how to be picked up and held - he can actually do it for a short time.   He enjoys belly rubs and is learning that walks are kind of fun too.
His favorite is mealtime - He can't wait for a good bowl and will jump up eagerly to get his meal.

This little guy is a hoot!  Beans is very good with other dogs and will play once he is comfortable.

Beans is VERY proud to announce that he has learned the command SIT!  Now when the other dogs in the house sit, he does too, right in sync with them!  He is a definite foodie and that has helped his training immensely!  Turns out he loves popcorn... any kind really... air popped, movie theater, butter, no butter....

His world has opened up so much since he's been able to go on walks with his pack. Before, he really wanted to go but was just too scared of the leash.  He is still a little tentative about getting the leash on but tries as best he can to be brave so he doesn't get left at home alone.  He is always so overjoyed upon returning home, feeling confident and good about getting out and about!

It has been so great seeing him make little steps forward.  Whoever adopts him will experience so many new and exciting milestones.  Beans really wants to become a loyal friend and tries hard every day to overcome his past.  He is a real tail wagger and is getting more cuddly week after week.

Another dog and a physical fenced in yard is required for him at this time.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
