Description:
Meet Dasha! Dasha is an enthusiastic and active young girl looking for an experienced home. She is a working line dog. That means in order to keep her a well-rounded and well-mannered dog in the house, she needs lots of mental and physical exercise. Currently, she is getting about 2-3 hours a day of jogging with her foster, searching, training and time out of the house in addition to playing outside and romping with her foster brother. Active and experienced homes only. Malinois or working shepherd experience is a plus. She would excel at precision obedience, search and rescue, scent work, and she will be tested for dock jumping soon. Dasha does excellent with other dogs and would love other dogs in her family as long as she gets plenty of one-on-one time with her owners doing what she loves. She will not do well if she is left to just be a friend to another dog. People come first for her. Dasha would also do great (and probably best) as an only dog, but would enjoy regular socialization and play with "dog friends." Ideally, her new home should be cat-free and young kid-free. She has very high prey drive but will listen and not pursue if she trusts and respects you. However, if given that chance it could not end well. She is wonderful with children. She currently lives with a 7-year-old and has done great with children of all ages. She can get a little exhausted with kids that are very young and because young kids take up so much time, it is best that she not live with kids under the of 10. But she can be around them with no problem. She is crate trained and does fine in the crate during the day. Though she will need time getting used to a new place. She does bark at times when she is overexcited in the crate. She is prone to separation anxiety and hyperactivity if she is not given enough exercise and/or she is not provided with strong, but gentle leadership. She is currently fostered by a dog trainer and has worked through a lot of those issues, however, she can backslide if she is treated too softly or too roughly. Simply put, she is not the easiest dog to live with if you are not experienced with working dogs. However, if she is given what she needs, she is a truly wonderful dog that just wants to be a part of something amazing and then curl up and snuggle with her favorite person

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
